The flinty, iron rich, free draining soils at Ironstone are perfectly suited to cool climate Shiraz.
Ironstone has seven shiraz clones. Each carefully managed to provide low yields, and each producing unique flavors and characteristics.
Block Three, produced from a SAVII 19 clone was one of two blocks from the 2019 vintage chosen for an individual release, with 2,160 bottles produced from three carefully selected barrels. Hand picked, partial whole bunch with extended maceration. Twelve months in French oak – 30% new.
A complex cool climate shiraz with red fruit predominant, complemented by darker plumb and blackberry flavors.
Hints of white chocolate and tobacco entice. The finish is clean and lingering.
