Our Facilities

Our production facilities are available to outside producers.

Our Nairne property houses our state-of-the-art Sidewood Winery, under the watchful eye of internationally acclaimed Winemaker Darryl Catlin.

Wine Production

The Sidewood Winery was built to accommodate small to medium size batches of fruit specific to the needs of the Adelaide Hills. Clients can choose between driving the style or working closely with Darryl and the team, guiding them through the process from start to finish. This maximizes the potential of your grapes to become exceptional wine.

The winery is equipped with:

  • A range of presses including – Bucher XP, 5T Siprem Airbag + 2T traditional basket press
  • Three state-of-the-art temperature controlled cool rooms
  • A range of variously sized temperature-controlled stainless-steel tanks and fermenters including small open fermenters
  • A cutting edge cross flow filter for gentle filter wine to final stages of bottling
  • Nitrogen Generator – for inert handling of wine at all stages
    Temperature & humidity controlled barrel room storage
  • The whole winery is in an insulated shed

Bottling Line

In 2016 Sidewood commenced canning and kegging of cider with the addition of a bottling line for still and sparkling wine in September 2017.

The bottling line is the first of its kind for the Adelaide Hills region servicing the Hills and beyond. It has a capacity to bottle up to 3000 bottles per hour, which is the equivalent of 5 million bottles per annum.

The bottling line was chosen specifically for its ability to bottle wines, ciders and various other packages under pressure and offers a lot of flexibility allowing for small batch bottling sizes.

Bringing a contract bottling facility to the Adelaide Hills offers a fantastic opportunity for local producers including small producers to produce sparkling wines including Moscato, Prosecco and other sparking products, within close proximity to their production areas.

Cider Production

Part of the winery encompasses a cider production facility which can accommodate most styles of cider making. This includes processing apples through the mill or utilising your contract juice through the processing facilities, all of which can be kegged, bottled or canned on site.
