TASTING NOTES

Bursting with aromas of raspberry and black cherry, layered with hints of violet and spice. The palate is juicy and succulent, delivering vibrant fruit, subtle gaminess, soft tannins and bright acidity.

VITICULTURE & VINIFICATION

Hand-picked from low-yielding vines in cooler Adelaide Hills sites. Fruit chilled overnight, with a blend of carbonic maceration and whole-berry fermentation using wild yeast. Matured in seasoned French oak puncheons for 6 months to soften tannins while preserving freshness.

VINTAGE CONDITIONS

Sourced from cooler pockets of the Adelaide Hills, supporting fresh acidity, aromatic lift and balanced ripening typical of cool-climate expressions.

AWARDS & REVIEWS

95/100 points | Halliday's Wine Companion 2026
"Gamay climbs a few rungs in quality this release. This wine begs pause; allow yourself a moment to take in the full breadth of floral aromas, violet, raspberry, black cherry and spice. The palate doesn't let up, either. The fruit feels pristine, bright with berries, red cedar and skeins of pink pepper spice that enliven, reshaping the palate to something a touch more serious. It's whole and pure, with enough grip to withstand heartier fare, the tannins long but soft and well integrated. A marvel."

94/100 points | Tony Love, Wine Pilot 2026
"The rising tide of Adelaide Hills Gamay continues unabated, including this explicitly spicy red-fruit rendition from Sidewood Estate, a wine that exhibits its regional aromatic stance of crimson cherry here with a subtle cedary note as well, the palate oozy and juicy with an enticing lip-smack of acidity seasoned with pops of black pepper and just enough tannin grip to suggest it will handle a decent smoked meat plate and even a juicy T-bone. Let it open to the air as well, as it finds a second wind an hour or so after release. This Gamay genre just gets better and better."

SERVING & STYLE

Best served slightly chilled. Ideal with pork terrine or grilled salmon with Dijon glaze. Approachable in youth, with potential to evolve with careful cellaring.
