Sidewood Estate Chardonnay 2024

$30.00
Tax included.

Elegant estate-grown Chardonnay with notes of stone fruit, citrus and cashew, layered with subtle oak. A supple palate is balanced by bright acidity and fine minerality, delivering a long, fresh finish.

TASTING NOTES

Aromas of fresh stone fruit, citrus and cashew are complemented by gentle toasty oak. The palate is fleshy and supple, supported by vibrant acidity and a subtle mineral thread that carries through to a long, mouth-watering finish.

VINIFICATION

Fruit was sourced from individual parcels across certified sustainable estate vineyards. Gently pressed free-run juice was fermented with wild yeast in French oak (20% new), followed by eight months’ maturation on lees. Final blending was completed after detailed barrel selection.

VINTAGE CONDITIONS

A balanced growing season produced fruit with excellent flavour development and natural acidity. Mild conditions allowed for even ripening across parcels, resulting in Chardonnay with clarity, freshness and structure.

AWARDS & REVIEWS

93/100 Points | Tony Love, Wine Pilot 2025
"Sidewood’s multi-tiered Chardonnay portfolio is an impressive collection in anyone’s language, and the 2024 vintage is clearly a beauty if the response for more elite cousins, the Mappinga and Owen variations, are any marker, winning trophies hand over fist in this year’s wine show circuit. The Estate, sourced from several of Sidewood’s vineyards across different sectors of the Hills region, is set to a generous aroma/flavour profile: lightly roasted peach, almond cake, orange cream biscuit, with a smartly measured citrus seam underpinning its palate lines, flavours reverbing in the textured finish. A people friendly Chardonnay with plenty of vinous attraction."

93/100 Points | Halliday's Wine Companion 2025
"This surely must be one of the best value chardonnays of the region. The fruit is sourced from estate vineyards, and wild-yeast fermentation occurs in French oak, where it ages for nine months. Underripe white stone fruit, with apricot, grapefruit pith and lemon zest. It marches ahead on the palate, its threads of acidity carrying the weight of toasted almond, cashew, and Greek yoghurt. You'd be hard pressed to refuse a glass of this. Particularly at the price."
