Vinification
Sidewood's inaugural release of our Tyre Fitter Shiraz a single clone, single vineyard shiraz grown at our Ironstone Road vineyard in Echunga. The flinty, iron rich, free draining soils at Ironstone are perfectly suited to cool climate Shiraz. Ironstone has seven shiraz clones. Each carefully managed to provide low yields, and each producing unique flavours and characteristics. Block Three, produced from a SAVII 19 clone was one of two blocks from the 2021 vintage chosen for an individual release, with 3,000 bottles produced from three carefully selected barrels. Hand picked, partial whole bunch with extended maceration. Twelve months in French oak - 30% new.

Tasting Notes
Hosting the “Syrah” label, this wine is a classic example of cool climate shiraz. It’s soft purple tint harbour elegance and sophistication through out each layer uncovered with each sip. Be enticed by the soft perfume of fig, violets and tar followed by a wave of raspberry, dark chocolate, and Szechuan spice. Seamless tannins leave you with a long smooth finish and lasting impression. Can be enjoyed with grazing platters of charcuterie and cheese or with larger dishes such as Teriyaki duck or scotch fillet and seasonal greens.
