Vinification
Sidewood's inaugural release of our Old China Hand Shiraz a single clone, single vineyard shiraz grown at our Ironstone Road vineyard in Echunga. The flinty, iron rich, free draining soils at Ironstone are perfectly suited to cool climate Shiraz. Ironstone has seven shiraz clones. Each carefully managed to provide low yields, and each producing unique flavors and characteristics. Block Four was one of two blocks chosen from the 2021 vintage for an individual release with 3,000 bottles produced from 6 carefully selected barrels. Hand picked, partial whole bunch with extended maceration. Twelve months in French oak - 30% new.
