Award‑Winning Owen’s Chardonnay 2024 Named Best South Australian Chardonnay
Sidewood’s Owen’s Chardonnay continues its legacy of critical acclaim, following a long line of award-winning vintages. Most recently, the wine secured the Trophy for Best South Australian Chardonnay at the prestigious International Wine Challenge in London (2nd tranche).

Named in honour of Sidewood Estate owner and vigneron Owen Inglis, this release reflects our uncompromising pursuit of excellence from grape to glass. That philosophy is embodied in our Vigneron’s Release Chardonnay, which Owen describes as “a labour of love to make.”
Craftsmanship at Sidewood is never rushed. As Owen Inglis says, “We take attention to detail at every level of making our wine; we don’t take any shortcuts.”
The 2024 vintage has already been recognised with a Gold Medal at the International Cool Climate Wine Show (2025) and an International Gold Medal at Mundus Vini Spring Tasting in Germany.
This marks the 6th release of our Mendoza clone Chardonnay, meticulously grown by our in-house viticulture and winemaking team. Fruit is hand-picked, individually sorted, and pressed to 50% extraction before undergoing wild fermentation in French oak barriques for 10 months. Following partial malolactic fermentation, the finest barrels are selected and blended into a limited 300-dozen release.
