With people being more aware of the constituents of what they consume, Sidewood made the conscious decision to not add anything to its cider other than apples and pears when it commenced production in 2014.
Traditionally, mass-produced ciders can sometimes be comparatively sweet tasting as they often include concentrate or added sugar. Sidewood’s gluten free and vegan friendly product tastes as one would expect – like a fresh pear or apple. Based on tests conducted in October 2016 Sidewood has one of the lowest sugar contents in the market:

HIGHEST SUGAR OF APPLE CIDERS TESTED: 8.2 g/100 ml
AVERAGE OF THOSE TESTED (SAMPLE SIZE 15): 4.56 g/100 ml
Sidewood’s hand-crafted premium apple and pear ciders are sourced only from orchards in the cool climate of the Adelaide Hills. The six-week process starts within the orchards as the fruit is carefully hand selected for flavour and acidity. To retain the fresh natural flavours the fruit is crushed and then cool fermented at the Sidewood Cidery within hours of picking.
